the meaning of life is to find your gift, the purpose of life is to give it away. -who the heck knows [who first quoted these words, because the Google claims it could have been one of like, three influential people, and I’ve absorbed a similar statement from Deepak Chopra in his book, The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success.]
through my curiosity of essential oils something like 6 years ago, I’ve met some of the most profound, interesting, influential, and downright kick ass people. like, thousands of them. each day my life is enriched by my network of friends, be it in person, or on social media.
one of these humans in particular, Tamlyn, whom I wrote briefly about in my last blog, is part curator of this beautiful ten acre hobby farm in the quaint little farming town of Corral De Tierra, California. her story in brief is that she, her hubby and their twin boys craved a more simple life than what society has groomed us to believe we need. so instead of just continuing to wonder if the grass is greener, they took the matter into their own hands + literally purchased ten acres of the “greenest grass” they had dreamt of.
their beautiful home boasts vegetables, fruits, chickens, highland cows (four of the amazing creatures, by the way), acres of plants + flowers, a home they remodeled to be something out of a magazine (with more comfort + charm you knew to be possible), and the four of them spend their time enriching their bodies + minds with only the cleanest, most meaningful, impactful things possible.
while their visions + dreams grow stronger + deeper, she knew she needed help. homeschooling their eleven year old boys, she was on the hunt for someone that would be able to help wherever she could use it – gardening, pruning, cleaning, fixing, making, creating, organizing, crafting, thinking, doing, or visualizing.
now I wanted to type out “somehow she chose us” to come be their guest-house inhibitors for the summer, but I’m going to rephrase that a little bit. I believe in divinity, in a universal energy that lays paths out in front of us, and our jobs are to be open enough to see how these paths might enrich our lives. so while they technically said “heck yes” to our offer to come help, I firmly believe the reason we’re here right now is because it’s a connection of higher power.
ok enough of my deeper-meaning bullshit. let’s get back to reality. we’re here to help them in any way we can, they’re generous enough to not only pay us for our services, but also provide us a beautiful space to call home for the summer, and if that wasn’t enough to make the deal complete, we’re also being fed the most amazing, healthy AF, fresh-from-the-garden meals a person could ever dream up. so much of the food eaten here comes from the land itself, and a majority of the rest is grown in this region – making it incredibly fresh, full of energy, and so unbelievably delicious.
I don’t necessarily believe in luck, I more so believe in opportunity crossing paths with preparedness in life. being willing to do things that are ‘off the beaten path’ or ‘out of your regular comfort zone’, and the ability to see an opportunity when it knocks, the understanding of detachment of what you may have previously thought of as ‘normal’ and the courage to go for what you want in life.
the summer of 2019 is shaping up to be my inner most thoughts manifesting into reality. if you’ve ever questioned the power of your thoughts, I hope this little blog of mine is a stepping stone to you realizing just how incredible our universe really is.
now for some photos of the magic.
