deep thoughts on a sunny Friday afternoon of quarantine 2020. ya’ll ready for this one?
three years ago today I felt like I had been possessed by some sort of greater force, which took over my being + made a decision that would change the trajectory of the rest of my life.
let me give you a little background to set the scene. I promise I’ll keep it as brief as I can, but you might want to sit down, because it’s heavy.
nine L O N G months earlier, my fiancé called off our wedding. we weren’t newly engaged…in fact, it was about 6 weeks to the day before the date was set, scheduled + ready to go down…oh and mostly paid for.
for the NINE MONTHS following that heartbreaking blow to the ego, I stuck by his side as we tried to figure out why he suddenly didn’t want to commit. he claimed cold feet, and had me believing he just needed time, so time is what I gave him, hoping his proverbial feet would warm up + life would continue.
but on march 26th, 2017, I woke up with a different understanding of it all. that possession that I spoke about in the beginning of this rambling? yeah, it was loud + clear. YOU ARE WORTH SO MUCH MORE. he’s never changing. YOUR WHOLE LIFE IS AHEAD OF YOU. you don’t owe him anything, and certainly not another day of your beautiful life. those are just some of the messages I was getting from this creepy out-of-body experience.
so I made him move out. ended it, for once and for all. FINITO. boy bye. I got a lot of life left to give, and I’ll be damned if dude is trying to drag me down. this was pre-Lizzo, but that would be the soundtrack I will forever give to this memory.
MY WORST FEAR IN LIFE had come true. actually, a few of them. I found out shortly after that he was in another relationship + his plead of “just more time” was all a big fat, ugly lie.

the second I learned of the mission to add hearts where others can see it to show that WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER, I was giddy with excitement.
rainbows? hearts? a happy message? a contagion that spreads joy? I mean, it really doesn’t get much better than this!
Sammy boy, and the rest of the zoo all want to show our love to the world right now. yes shit is getting weird, you’re not human if you’re not slightly scared or have some fear of what’s to come, but we are all in this together. we will make it out of this smarter, better, and with a real knowledge of what’s truly important in life.

second monday of physical distancing.
humans life, again, is only slightly different than usual. she usually leaves us alone once or twice a week, but she’s not been here 24/7 + to be honest, we’re all sick of her.
she’s currently rearranging closets. I mean, who does that? seems to me like her time would be better spent building me a giant scratching tree palace, but what do I know, I’m just a cat.
I’d like to take this opportunity to explain to you how big my proverbial balls are. I keep sneaking into this part of the house where the big white deaf boy + his sister stay + human keeps losing her shit claiming I have a death wish. but look at me now! I just wanted to feel closer to my brother Frank, because he always used to sit on the warm fireplace...and Grant is being such a good boy!
I think we might be able to be friends after all....and this quarantine is surely the reason why!
